Job Description

TheKahlert Institute for Addiction Medicineat the University of Maryland School of Medicine is recruiting several tenure-track or tenured faculty members at the Assistant Professor or Associate Professor rank. We are interested in basic science candidates with a terminal degree who have interests in translational addiction science. Faculty will work alongside basic and clinical research teams to contribute to the broader goal of advancing the science of addiction medicine. Specific areas of interest include (1) mechanisms to inform therapeutic development, (2) pain, (3) polysubstance exposure, and/or (4) core mechanisms underlying drug exposures and consequences. Additional foci will be considered.

The candidates' research program must be aligned with the mission of the Kahlert Institute for Addiction Medicine, which is dedicated to transforming addiction research, prevention, treatment, and education across the State of Maryland and advancing the science of addiction medicine more broadly. The new hires will have an appointment in a basic or clinical department at the University of Maryland School of Medicine, but will be affiliated with and housed in the Kahlert Institute for Addiction Medicine. The University of Maryland, Baltimore is an R1 research institution with a vibrant community of leaders in the fields of addiction and neuroscience research across several departments including Psychiatry; Neurobiology; and Pharmacology, Physiology, and Drug Development. The hired faculty will be immersed in a highly collaborative environment with dynamic and productive research programs and initiatives, state-of-the-art equipment, and outstanding core facilities. Opportunities for mentoring and training the next generation of scientists are available through the Graduate Program in Life Sciences and MSTP program, including the Graduate Program in Neuroscience. Ample professional development resources and support for faculty are readily available.

Salary Range for full-time 100% FTE:

Assistant Professor $116,000-$140,000

Associate Professor $ 130,451-$170,000

The referenced salary range represents the minimum and maximum salaries for this position and is based on the University of Maryland School of Medicine's good faith belief at the time of posting. Not all candidates will be eligible for the upper end of the salary range. The actual compensation offered to the selected candidate may vary and will ultimately depend on multiple factors, which may include the successful candidate's geographic location, skills, work experience, internal equity, market conditions, education/training and other factors, as reasonably determined by the University.
