The City of East Wenatchee Community Development Department is seeking a collaborative, service-oriented Urban Planner (Assistant or Associate level, depending on qualifications) to help shape our growing city. This is an exciting opportunity to work under the direction of the Community Development Director and directly impact the City’s built environment.
This role handles both current and long-range planning functions, with a strong focus on current planning. Primary responsibilities include:
Processing and analyzing land-use permit applications.
Coordinating project reviews across city departments, outside agencies, and the public.
Managing annexation applications, code enforcement, and long-range planning initiatives.
Responding promptly to public inquiries and representing the City with professionalism.
Assistant Planner ($5,708 – $6,816/month):Requires a Bachelor's Degree in Urban/Regional Planning or a closely related field. Municipal planning experience and bilingual capabilities are desirable.
Associate Planner ($6,343 – $7,574/month):Requires a Bachelor’s Degree in Urban/Regional Planning or a closely related field PLUS two (2) years of planning and permit processing experience in a planning agency or consulting firm. A Master’s Degree in a related field will substitute for the two years of required experience.
Effectively analyzes proposed land-use activities and communicates guidelines clearly.
Demonstrates strong verbal and written communication skills.
Comfortably addresses and resolves opposing viewpoints and confrontations.
Projects a positive, professional image for themselves and the City.
Organizes and manages multiple tasks and priorities efficiently.
