The University of Dubuque is a growing faith-based University thatis seeking an Assistant or Associate Dean of OsteopathicIntegration for the John and Alice Butler College ofOsteopathic Medicine.

Position Summary

The Assistant or Associate Dean of Osteopathic Integration providesstrategic leadership to ensure the osteopathic identity of theDoctor of Osteopathic Medicine program is explicit, coherent, andconsistently experienced across the curriculum and clinicallearning environment at John and Alice Butler College ofOsteopathic Medicine (proposed, applicant seeking accreditation).This position leads the integration of Osteopathic Principles andPractice (OPP) and osteopathic philosophy throughout preclinicaland clinical education; supports the quality and consistency ofosteopathic manipulative medicine (OMM) instruction and assessment;and partners with faculty and clinical educators to reinforceperson-centered, whole-person, and community-oriented care. Therole supports accreditation readiness and continuous compliancewith applicable standards (e.g., COCA) and contributes to studentsuccess and professional identity formation as developingosteopathic physicians.

Primary Responsibilities

• Lead the intentional integration of osteopathic philosophy,OPP, and clinical reasoning across the preclinical and clinicalcurriculum
• Collaborate with course and block leaders to embedosteopathic-relevant learning objectives, cases, and skills infoundational and clinical teaching
• Ensure horizontal and vertical integration of OMM/OPP content,including transitions from simulation/skills to clinicalapplication
• Promote alignment of osteopathic integration with programcompetencies and outcomes (including COMLEX-related competencies,as appropriate)
• Oversee the quality, consistency, and continuous improvement ofOMM/OPP instruction, including lab experiences and clinicalcorrelation
• Establish and maintain assessment standards for osteopathiccompetencies (e.g., skills checklists, OSCE/clinical performance,professionalism and safety)
• Partner with assessment leadership to ensure valid, fair, andreliable evaluation processes, including remediation pathways forosteopathic skills
• Support faculty calibration to ensure consistent expectationsand feedback across instructors and sites
• Develop and deliver faculty development that strengthensosteopathic integration, clinical teaching, feedback, andassessment
• Support clinical preceptors in reinforcing osteopathicprinciples during patient care and in evaluating osteopathiccompetencies
• Foster a culture of collaborative teaching excellence andcontinuous improvement centered on whole-person care
• Collaborate with Clinical Education leadership to promoteosteopathic identity in clinical rotations and affiliated trainingsites
• Identify, develop, and support osteopathic-rich clinicallearning experiences (including rural/community settings whereappropriate)
• Partner on student preparation for clinical transitions (e.g.,OMM application, documentation, communication,professionalism)
• Ensure osteopathic integration elements meet COCA expectationsand are supported by clear documentation, curriculum maps, andoutcomes evidence
• Participate in accreditation readiness activities, includingnarrative development, data review, and continuous compliancemonitoring
• Contribute to academic policy development related toosteopathic competencies, OMM safety, professionalism, andprogression
• Serve as a senior ambassador for the College's osteopathicidentity in internal and external forums
• Collaborate with leaders across the COM and University to alignosteopathic integration with institutional priorities
• Engage in scholarship, quality improvement, or educationalinnovation related to osteopathic education, as appropriate to rankand appointment
• Perform other duties as assigned in support of the University's Mission

Qualifications

• Doctorate Degree Required
• Experience in medical education leadership (e.g., course/blockleadership, OMM/OPP leadership, curriculum integration, facultydevelopment)
• Prior experience directing or coordinating OMM/OPP programs,labs, or clinical skills curricula
• Working knowledge of accreditation expectations relevant toosteopathic education (e.g., COCA) and continuous qualityimprovement practices
