Job summary

Washington Penn is seeking an Assistant Operator to start a career in our manufacturing facility. You will participate in a structured training program, learn material transfer systems for extruders, manage material locations, and support resin handling while adhering to safety standards.

This full-time role includes a rotating day schedule, competitive hourly pay, health and other benefits, and growth opportunities within a family-owned company with a long history in thermoplastic resins.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent.
• Ability to work within a rotating schedule.
• Basic computer skills including word-processing, graphics, and spreadsheets.
• Physical requirements: stand/walk up to 12 hours, lift 50 lbs, climb stairs multiple times.

Responsibilities

• Complete the Assistant Operator training program.
• Maintain knowledge of material transfer systems for facility extruders.
• Maintain knowledge of material locations in warehouse.
• Responsible for resin silo levels and notifying departments when refilled.
• Provide relief coverage for other extruders during breaks.
• Receive general instructions from Shift Supervisor.
• Familiarize with Material Safety Data Sheets for safe handling.
• Maintain knowledge of Mixer job requirements for the facility.
• Record material ID and amounts used.
• Package and label finished material and place in holding area.
• Perform miscellaneous maintenance on equipment.
• Wear safety equipment as specified by the SDS.
• Maintain a clean and safe work area and report hazards.
• Assist Operators when needed.
• Perform other duties as directed by Supervisor.
