Job summary

PPG in Cleveland, OH is seeking an Assistant Operations Manager to oversee the engineering and sub-standard product recovery functions of the production teams at the plant, ensuring safe and efficient operation of production systems. You will report to the Operations Manager and work onsite.

This role leads a 20–25 person team across 24/7 shifts, drives quality improvements, and partners with maintenance and engineering to sustain operations.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, chemistry, or equivalent required.
  • 5+ years of manufacturing operations management experience preferred.
  • Experience with LEAN or Six Sigma.
  • Ability to flex schedule to follow batches when customer impact is involved.

  • Analyze data to provide inventive ideas and execute swiftly with minimal oversight.

Job description

As the Assistant Operations Manager, you will have managerial responsibility over the engineering and sub-standard product recovery function of the production teams at the Cleveland plant including safe and efficient operation of production systems.

You will work onsite in Cleveland, OH and you will report to the Operations Manager.

Main responsibilities
  • Own process quality and process incident investigation and ensure root cause analysis and corrective actions are established.
  • Manage a team of ~20-25 headcount across 24/7 shifts: Engineers (~8 HC), a small lab (~4 HC), and a scheduling team (~11 HC).
  • Deliver year over year improvements in non-conforming product and formula/specification optimization.
  • Work with technical, process engineering team, and production team to match output to standards. Establish criteria for bad actor production and drive for improvement on these metrics.
  • Develop and implement long-term strategies for quality/cost improvement.
  • Partner with Maintenance/Engineering for all expense and capital work required to maintain operations.
  • Analyze data to provide inventive ideas and execute swiftly with minimal oversight.

The salary for this position is $120,000 to $135,000.
