Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children seeks an Assistant Nurse Operations Manager (ANOM) to lead a designated unit with nursing practice and administrative oversight. The role collaborates with Nursing Operations leadership on patient care, staffing, quality outcomes and family experience.

The ANOM will participate in recruitment, staff development and process improvements while ensuring compliant care and efficient operations across the APH Surgery department, 24/7 coverage, and related support

Qualifications

• BSN required if no MSN.
• MSN, DNP or BSN with graduate degree in Business or health-related field preferred.
• Two years of RN experience in an acute setting.
• Current Florida RN license with BLS certification; additional certifications may be required depending on population served.

• Participates in recruitment and selection of unit staff.
• Coordinates with Nursing Operations Manager and HR on corrective action and career advancement.
• Investigates event reports and provides feedback to leadership and team members.

Position Summary

Arnold Palmer Hospital is currently seeking Assistant Nurse Operations Manager (ANOM) who is responsible for the management of their designated unit/department, including nursing practice and administrative oversight of the area. In conjunction with the Unit/Department Nursing Operations Manager, the ANOM provides guidance and direction on all aspects of unit operations including customer experience, budgetary performance, human resources activities, shared leadership, and quality outcomes.

Job Title: Assistant Nurse Operations Manager (ANOM) Dept: APH Surgery Status: Full Time Shift: Day Surgical services are available 24 hours per day, 365 days per year with in-house staffing. The APH Surgery Department works in conjunction with Pre-Admission Testing, the Pre-Anesthesia Care Area, and Post Anesthesia Care Unit. Other support departments that are non-clinical include Sterile Supply and the Sterile Processing Department. The operating room is defined as the space and equipment necessary for the successful completion of surgical procedures. The APH Surgery Department, in conjunction with Anesthesia Services offers perioperative care to children, both inpatient and outpatient, who meet the anesthesia ASA Class I, II, III or IV physical status criteria of the American Society of Anesthesiologists. The major services include elective, urgent and emergent surgical procedures for pediatric patients. Patients having local, general, monitored anesthesia care, or regional anesthesia are treated. Pediatric patients are accepted and approved by the attending surgeon and anesthesiologist. In the case of patients >21 years of age, a panel reviews the patient history and surgical needs for appropriate admission to APH. The surgery department staff is scheduled to provide flexible nursing care and services for elective scheduled, STAT NOW, emergent and urgent cases around the clock. APH Surgery Department provides coverage for STAT NOW, urgent and emergent cases, including trauma cases 24/7.

Essential Functions

• Participates in the recruitment and selection of new team members for the unit through interviews, peer selection, and evaluation of candidates.
• Coordinates with the Unit/Department Nursing Operations Manager and Human Resources as indicated on corrective action, progressive discipline, and career advancement.
• Investigates event reports and provides feedback to both Unit/Department Nursing Operations Manager and team members.
• Oversight of schedules for the unit to ensure the proper mix of staff are available each shift to provide appropriate patient care.
• Maintains oversight of patient flow and intervenes as indicated to achieve expected outcomes.
• Performs Nurse Leader rounds and reviews, to identify variance from nursing best practice and regulatory or hospital standards. Participates in process/quality improvement initiatives to improve outcomes and standard work.
• Ensures the customer experience is upheld by all team members on shift and provides service recovery to patients and their families as needed.
• Interfaces with patients and families to provide instruction, promote participation in patient care, and to coordinate nursing activities.
• Participates and/or leads staff meetings, GEMBA board, or huddles; demonstrates ownership of unit and outcomes.
• Performs direct patient care activities as required to meet operational needs.
• Possesses excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team environment.
• Respects the rights and privacy of others and holds staff member information in strict confidence.
• Ensures incident reports are completed appropriately and follows up with event reports as needed.
• Maintains reasonably regular, punctual attendance consistent with Orlando Health policies, the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards.

Qualifications

Education/Training

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing Degree (BSN) required if no Masters of Science in Nursing (MSN).
• Master of Science in Nursing (MSN), Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP), or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) with Graduate degree in Business or health-related field preferred.

Licensure/Certification

• Current licensure as a registered nurse in the State of Florida or Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC).
• Maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• May require one or more of the following certifications based on the assigned patient population:
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
• Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)
• Trauma Nurse Core Course (TNCC)

Experience

Two (2) years of experience as a Registered Nurse in an acute setting.
