Position Summary

The Assistant Nurse Operations Manager (ANOM) is responsible for the day-to-day operations of surgical cases to ensure delivery of quality service and optimal patient flow in a fast-paced Operating Room at a Level 1 Trauma facility rendering patient care to patients undergoing either elective or emergent procedures from various specialties.

Responsibilities
  1. Shared 24/7 accountability with Nursing Operations Manager.
  2. Participates in the recruitment and selection of new team members for the unit through interviews, peer selection, and evaluation of candidates.
  3. Coordinates with the Unit/Department Nursing Operations Manager and Human Resources regarding corrective action, progressive discipline, and career advancement.
  4. Investigates event reports and provides feedback to the Unit/Department Nursing Operations Manager and team members.
  5. Oversees schedules for the unit to ensure proper staffing for each shift to provide appropriate patient care.
  6. Maintains oversight of patient flow and intervenes as needed to achieve expected outcomes.
  7. Performs Nurse Leader rounds and reviews to identify variances from nursing best practices and standards; participates in quality improvement initiatives.
  8. Ensures the customer experience is upheld by all team members and provides service recovery as needed.
  9. Interfaces with patients and families to provide instruction, promote participation, and coordinate nursing activities.
  10. Leads staff meetings, GEMBA boards, or huddles; demonstrates ownership of the unit and outcomes.
  11. Performs direct patient care activities as required to meet operational needs.
  12. Possesses excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team environment.
  13. Respects the rights and privacy of others; maintains confidentiality of staff information.
  14. Ensures incident reports are completed appropriately and follows up on event reports.
Qualifications
Education/Training
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing Degree (BSN) required if no MSN.
  • MSN, DNP, or BSN with graduate degree in Business or health-related field preferred.
Licensure/Certification
  • Current licensure as a registered nurse in Florida or Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC).
  • Maintain current BLS certification.
  • May require additional certifications based on patient population, such as ACLS or TNCC.
Experience
  • Two (2) years of experience as an OR/Circulating Registered Nurse.
