JOB SUMMARY
The Assistant Nurse Manager (ANM) provides clinical and administrative leadership at the unit level and coordination of direct and indirect patient care at the hospital wide level. They are responsible for shift or program specific operations of the hospital for the provision of effective patient care. This includes cost control, personnel management, quality improvement, direct and indirect patient care. They provide care that reflects initiative, flexibility, and responsibility indicative of professional expectation with minimal supervision. The Assistant Nurse Manager (ANM) incorporates a higher level of skill and knowledge to perform and role model direct and indirect patient care which may include neonate, child, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patient through mentoring and advising on the assessment of health needs, development, and implementation of the plan of care, and ability to evaluate outcomes. They consistently demonstrates a positive attitude, accountability, confidence, critical thinking, fairness, and flexibility. They also assists in staff supervision and management for the Nursing Office. Supports the department Manager in accomplishing program goals and outcomes and sustaining a state of continual regulatory readiness. In addition, the ANM is visible, present, and available to staff in providing mentoring, teaching, and support. Provides and documents patient care under the direction and supervision of a Nurse Manager.
Patient Care:Interviews and advises patients regarding health and illness prevention.
Quality:Collaborates with other departments or disciplines to achieve desired quality outcomes.
Communication:Demonstrates superior interpersonal and communication skills.
Medical Knowledge:Provides primary health care and performs selective medical services under the direction of practice physicians.
The incumbent may be asked to perform additional duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Bachelor's Degree in Nursing required within 5 years of hire. Completion of a nursing program approved by the State Board of Nursing.
Experience: Minimum of two years of clinical RN experience preferred. Prior demonstrated nursing leadership preferred. Refer to the Life Support Training Policy for additional details.
Licensure: Current RN licensure in applicablestate required. Unit/Dept. specific required certifications.
Additional Skills/Requirements Required: Ability to perform basic nursing skills on groups of patients and ability to assume charge responsibility. Ability to multitask and prioritize quickly. Ability to administer medication utilizing the five rights. Ability to communicate verbally and in written form. Basic computer knowledge. Ability to successfully complete Leader Education & Training.
