Job summary

The Iowa City VA Medical Center is seeking an Assistant Nurse Manager (ANM) for the Surgery and Specialty Care Service. The ANM will supervise orientation, training, development of staff, and evaluate performance.

Responsibilities include assisting the Nurse Manager with 24/7 unit oversight, coordinating patient-centered care, mentoring nursing staff, and ensuring compliance with quality and safety standards. Bachelor's degree in nursing and US RN license required; CNOR preferred.

Qualifications

• English language proficiency required
• Current RN license in United States
• Graduate of an approved nursing program (ACEN/CCNE accrediting)
• CNOR preferred for OR experience

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership, direction and supervision for orientation, training and development of staff
• Assist Nurse Manager in 24/7 unit operations and act as manager in their absence
• Coordinate patient-centered care, education, safety and satisfaction across the continuum
• Mentor nursing staff, oversee recruitment, onboarding, competency assessment and performance evaluation
• Ensure compliance with accreditation standards, VA directives and SOPs
• Support development and implementation of innovative care delivery models and process improvements
