Responsibilities

The Assistant Nurse Manager is a professional nurse leader responsible for the daily operations of a patient care area/department. They focus on safe, effective, patient- and family-centered care, customer satisfaction, and quality outcomes. Collaborating with the Nurse Manager, they help create and maintain a financially stable unit and promote staff development through evidence-based practice and education supported by a Practice Governance framework. The Assistant Nurse Manager supervises licensed and non-licensed staff and, when in a direct care role, assesses, develops, implements, and evaluates care plans. They utilize their educational and professional experiences to deliver quality care and mentor staff. They ensure that the Swanson Theory of Caring and patient/family-centered care underpin nursing practices and involve staff at all levels in resource allocation, interdisciplinary activities, and collaboration.

Qualifications

Required:

  • One year of experience as a Registered Nurse
  • Associate Degree in Nursing; must obtain a BSN, MSN, or DNP within three years
  • Registered Nurse license (KY)
