The role you’ll contribute:

The Assistant Nurse Manager supervises and coordinates patient care delivery on the assigned nursing units and is accountable for meeting standards. They support the unit by planning, directing, and evaluating all nursing service functions and activities to ensure delivery of quality patient care and organizational effectiveness. Responsibilities include completing chart audits in the EMR, ensuring accuracy and completeness, coordinating staff educational needs, and contributing to strategic planning and quality improvement initiatives.

  • Participates in daily rounding and promotes compliance with TWCE/Leader Rounding.
  • Maintains responsibility for nursing units on a 24/7 basis, unless otherwise approved.
  • Performs duties promptly, providing updates on delays.
  • Adheres to hospital standards for dress and professional appearance.
  • Collaborates with staff to create optimal outcomes.
  • Participates in staff hiring, onboarding, and evaluations.
  • Monitors budgets and collaborates on financial reports and action plans.
  • Rounds on patients and families, providing service recovery as needed.
  • Assists in budget development and patient flow management.
  • Participates in quality improvement activities and monitors department benchmarks.
  • Supports staff development and retention strategies.
  • Prepares departmental reports monthly.
  • Maintains regulatory readiness and staff education.
  • Serves as a mentor and facilitator of professional growth.
  • Plans projects and expansions, including staffing and equipment needs.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience Required:

  • Minimum of two years acute care nursing experience or appropriate specialty area.
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing within 3 years.

Education and Experience Preferred:

  • Two years of leadership experience in care team or equivalent.

Licensure, Certification, or Registration Required:

  • Current Illinois RN License.

Licensure, Certification, or Registration Preferred:

  • Unit Specialty certification.
