Responsibilities
  • The Assistant Nurse Manager is a registered professional nurse responsible for patient care on an individual unit.
  • Collaborates with the Nurse Manager to evaluate and assess patient needs using the nursing process.
  • Assigns patients appropriately, considering staff skills and classifications.
  • Coordinates with the health team to optimize patient care quality.
  • Acts as a patient advocate and promotes customer satisfaction.
  • Supports orientation and ongoing education for new and current staff.
  • Participates in hiring, performance evaluations, and staff counseling.
  • Provides resources and networks with expertise to meet patient and unit needs.
  • Develops and monitors compliance with care standards and safety protocols.
  • Maintains supplies, emergency equipment, and ensures equipment functionality.
  • Contributes to policy and program development.
Qualifications
  • Minimum two years of experience as a staff nurse.
  • Current RN license in New York.
  • Three or more years of nursing supervisory experience with strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or national certification preferred.
  • NICU/Nursery experience is preferred.
