Job summary

Saint Francis Hospital and Medical Center in Hartford, CT, part of Trinity Health Of New England, seeks an Assistant Nurse Manager (Senior Clinical Advisor) for its Emergency Department. You will partner with the Nurse Manager to lead daily operations, mentor staff, and drive exceptional patient outcomes in our fast-paced Level I Trauma Center.

This salaried role includes evenings (3:00 PM–11:00 PM), Monday–Friday with potential weekend coverage, full benefits, and opportunities for career

Qualifications

• BSN degree required.
• Current CT RN license.
• Minimum 2 years ED nursing experience.
• Experience with high-acuity emergencies.

Responsibilities

• Lead daily ED operations with the Nurse Manager.
• Mentor, coach, and support charge nurses and staff.
• Coordinate staffing, scheduling, throughput, and resources.
• Foster quality, safety, accountability and development.
• Involve in hiring, onboarding and performance management.

As an Assistant Nurse Manager (Senior Clinical Advisor), you will partner with the Nurse Manager to lead clinical operations, support frontline nursing staff, and drive exceptional patient outcomes in our fast-paced Emergency Department.

What You'll Do

• Support the Nurse Manager in leading daily Emergency Department operations.
• Provide leadership, mentoring, and coaching to charge nurses and clinical staff.
• Coordinate staffing, scheduling, patient throughput, and resource management.
• Promote a culture of quality, safety, accountability, and professional development.
• Participate in hiring, onboarding, performance management, and staff engagement initiatives.
• Ensure compliance with hospital, regulatory, and accreditation standards.
• Drive clinical excellence through evidence-based practice and continuous improvement.
• Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary teams to optimize patient outcomes.
• Serve as the primary nursing leadership presence during weekend evening operations.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
• Current Connecticut Registered Nurse (RN) license
• Minimum of 2 years of Emergency Department nursing experience
• Experience caring for high-acuity emergency patients
• Strong communication, leadership, and critical thinking skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in a Level I or Level II Trauma Center
• Previous leadership experience as a Charge Nurse, Team Lead, Preceptor, or Supervisor
• BLS/CPR certification
• ACLS certification
• TNCC certification
• Specialty certifications encouraged and supported

Compensation

$91,624 – $146,640

Pay is based on experience, skills, and education. Exempt positions under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) will be paid within the base salary equivalent of the stated hourly rates. The pay range may also vary within the stated range based on location.
