Job summary

Hartford Hospital within Hartford HealthCare is seeking an Assistant Nurse Manager for the Emergency Department. This role leads a large ED team, ensures quality patient care, and collaborates with management to optimize operations and education initiatives.

The ANM will mentor staff, drive evidence-based practice, and uphold service standards while navigating a busy, high-acuity environment in Connecticut.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing and/or certification required.
• ACLS, PALS, TNCC and CEN preferred.
• At least 2 years of Emergency Department RN experience.
• 1 year of experience leading employees in an emergency care setting.
• Strong communications skills required - both written, verbal and public speaking/teaching.

• Supervise a large work group to ensure a high quality, cost-effective service.
• Educate employees and maintain effective relationships with staff, management and customers to facilitate information flow.
• Support department goals and objectives and ensure patient care standards are met.

In addition to being one of the busiest Emergency Departments in Connecticut, our RNs treat patients with the highest acuity in the region, the Hartford Hospital ED is also a chest pain center and comprehensive stroke center. The department is comprised of 109 beds, with the addition of a 19-bed ED Observation Unit. The ED treats an average of 109,000 patients annually. Hartford Hospital is home to the largest robotic surgery center in the Northeast and the Center for Education, Simulation and Innovation (CESI), which is recognized as one of the most-advanced medical simulation training centers in the world. Our ED is also home to Life Star the state's first Critical Care helicopter service. Our Rock Star ED RN’s are the recipients of the prestigious National Lantern Award for Excellence in Nursing.

The Assistant Nurse Manager supervises a large work group to ensure that a high quality, cost-effective service is delivered. The ANM performs within the department’s goals and objectives, maintains effective, positive relationships by responding to patient and family needs, resolving conflicts, and educating employees on customer service. The ANM effectively and continually communicates with the staff, management, and customers to facilitate the flow of information necessary to the success of the unit employees and the larger work group.
