We are seeking an Assistant Nurse Manager Departments - 5C Medical Teaching - Christiana Hospital to support the Nurse Manager in the overall administrative direction for the clinical practice of nursing and the delivery of high quality and cost effective care for all patients and families associated with this patient care unit. Shares 24-hour responsibility and accountability for all aspect of daily operations with the Nurse Manager.

Christiana 5C Medical Teaching Unit is recruiting for the position of Assistant Nurse Manager. This is a medical inpatient unit located on the 5th floor at Christiana Hospital. Shift Requirement is rotating Day/Evening/Midnight shifts - will be discussed further. Nights, Weekend, Holiday and On Call coverage per the guidelines of the department. This position seeks a motivated RN who will assist with administrative direction for clinical practice and efficient care delivery. The position will share 24 hour accountability and responsibility for all aspects of daily operations in both units with the Nurse Manager and the other ANMs.

Responsibilities:

In this role you will assist the Nurse Manager in the overall administrative direction for the clinical practice of nursing and delivery of high quality and efficient care to all patients utilizing the services of this area.

Shares 24-hour responsibility and accountability for all aspects of daily operational activity.

Directly supervises nursing and technical personnel: Assesses proficiency of staff, Oversees daily staffing and scheduling needs of the department, Evaluates staff performance, Counsels staff members when performance issues are identified.

Participates in all hiring, promotion, salary adjustment, and termination decisions. Functions as a highly transparent role model, demonstrating quality expertise and professional behaviors which support professional development of staff and the strategic goals of CCHS.

Identifies and develops strategies to improve the overall knowledge base and professionalism of staff.

Directs, mentors and supports all level of staff on the floor.

Identifies potential future leaders and engages in succession planning.

Analyzes administrative and operational functions; implements appropriate changes and system wide improvements.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Nursing required. Master's required within 3 years.
  • RN required. Progressive/ Intermediate or Intensive Care experience preferred.
  • 5 years appropriate clinical and leadership experience.
  • BLS required; ACLS preferred
  • Current Certification required. If selected, candidate will within six months of start date, successful complete the professional certification.

Hours: This position is Full Time. Flexibility to work Day, Evening and Night shifts. Weekend and Holiday requirements per the guideline of the department.
