The Medicine Units at Baystate Health are highly specialized and will be the foundation of a successful nursing career.

DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION:

  • D6A is an ACE Unit which provides for the older adult patient population.
  • The unit has 39 beds, 16 semi-private rooms, and 5 rooms for end-of-life care.
  • This unit offers participation in nurse-driven change projects, great nursing ratios, and optimal support staff.
  • Unit provides support and resources to patients and is committed to providing the best patient experience possible. The Lawson Community room recently reopened on the unit, which provides a gathering space for social activities, group lunches, and games for our patients.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

  • Clinical Practice and Quality Outcomes: The Assistant Nurse Manager administers direct nursing care to patients and serves as a clinical resource and role model of clinical excellence for staff. Delivers on service promise as evidenced by metrics in all unit practices and programs. Provides leadership collaboratively with the Nurse Manager in proactively developing quality-driven and cost-effective initiatives.
  • Human Resource Leadership: The Assistant Nurse Manager in collaboration with the Nurse Manager leads a positive work environment that facilitates the delivery of excellent patient and caregiver experiences. Staff are highly engaged, as evidenced by relevant metrics. Individual and collective practices reflect the Core principles of Magnet.
  • Management of the Patient Care Environment: The Assistant Nurse Manager is a leader who is highly visible on the patient care unit and is responsible for the effective management of patient progress and outcomes of care.
  • Financial Growth and Stewardship: The Assistant Nurse Manager is accountable to manage within budget in collaboration with the Nurse Manager as evidenced by metrics. Stewards financial resources and promotes growth by developing business plans and budget for their unit in collaboration with the Nurse Manager per organizational goals and other relevant factors.

SCHEDULE:

  • Full Time Days Monday-Friday
  • Location: Baystate Medical Center, Springfield MA

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Successfully passed Board of Registration in Nursing Examination and is licensed in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts
  • Associates Degree in Nursing Required. BSN Preferred.
  • Experience: Three to five years nursing experience.
  • Current American Heart Association Health Care Provider CPR certification required.
