Job summary

Upstate Cancer Center is seeking an Assistant Nurse Manager to oversee daily nursing operations and support quality care delivery. The ANM will prioritize tasks, resolve staffing challenges, and assist with goals, planning, and budgeting in alignment with Upstate’s standards.

The role requires RN licensure in NY, a nursing degree (BSN or MSN), and 2+ years of post-licensure acute care experience, with CPR-BLS certification by appointment.

Qualifications

• NYS Licensed/Registered RN, Bachelor's or Master's in Nursing and two years of post-licensure acute care RN experience.
• Excellent written and oral communication, organizational and interpersonal skills.
• CPR-BLS certification required by time of appointment.

Job Summary

The Assistant Nurse Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of assigned nursing area(s) to facilitate and deliver comprehensive quality nursing care and to manage the environment in which care is given. The ANM prioritizes tasks for nursing staff, resolves staffing issues and problems, assists with goals, planning, customer service, standards, certification and accreditation, administrative and budget management, personnel resource management, communication, and quality activities. The ANM ensures adherence to hospital or department and university policies and to nursing policies, procedures, standards, and practices. The ANM functions on the off‑shift in the inpatient setting; in other areas the ANM shift is based on operational needs. The ANM exemplifies the Upstate mission, vision, and values and acts in accordance with Upstate policies and procedures.

Minimum Qualifications

• NYS Licensed/Registered (or eligible) RN, Bachelor's degree or Master's degree in Nursing and two years of post‑licensure acute care RN experience (preferably in a specialty area) required.
• Excellent written and oral communication, organizational and interpersonal skills required.
• CPR‑BLS certification required by time of appointment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Nursing Leadership certification and prior leadership experience strongly preferred.
• Hematology/Oncology experience highly preferred.

Work Days

Monday through Friday; day/evening.
