Job summary

Doniphan-Trumbull Public School District Athletics and Activities in Doniphan, Nebraska seeks an Assistant Musical Sponsor to oversee the student program, coordinate practices, and supervise athletes.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED; Nebraska teaching or supervisory certificate is preferred, as are First Aid/CPR training and a valid school-van license. Reports to the Activities Director.

Qualifications

• High school degree or GED required.
• Nebraska Teaching or Administrative and Supervisory Certificate with Special Services Certificate in coaching preferred.
• First Aid and CPR training required (may be obtained on the job and kept current).
• Motor vehicle operator’s license with a certificate to operate a school van.
• On-staff certificated employee preferred.
• Sponsor experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Oversee and manage the assigned team.
• Use good judgment to determine athlete participation during practices and games, including squad level and playing time.
• Positively promote the athletic program within the schools and the community.
• Assist in the selection and evaluation of assistant sponsors.
• Coordinate with the Activities Director in planning and scheduling practices, announcements, competitions, and the like.
• Supervises locker rooms and playing areas during and following periods of team participation.
• Remains with students and supervises them when traveling to away events.
• Oversees and tends to injured athletes.
• Cares for and maintains equipment and annual inventories.
• Works closely with custodians in control at facilities.
• Serve as a role model to all students.
• Serve as a positive member of the community in a way that does not negatively affect the District’s reputation or image in the community.
• Refrain from engaging in conduct that interferes with the operations of the District, including the education of students.
• Develop and maintain a positive and professional working relationship with other staff and administration.
• Adhere to all District policies, rules, regulations, and supervisory directives.
• Maintain confidentiality of information concerning staff, students, and parents in accordance with law and District rules.
• Adhere to the code of ethics of the District and the Nebraska Department of Education (NDE Rule 27).
