Job summary

Abbott in Columbus, Ohio is seeking a microbiology-focused professional to perform analysis of raw ingredients, in-process samples, finished products, and environmental monitoring to ensure product safety.

You will work with a team of microbiologists, prioritize tasks, document results, and support projects in a 3rd shift environment. A science-related associate's degree with lab experience is required; a bachelor's is preferred.

Qualifications

  • Science-related Associate's degree and lab coursework.
  • 2 years of lab experience or 4 years in manufacturing.
  • Knowledge of regulatory standards for infant formula and nutritionals.
  • Experience in food/pharmaceutical/medical device plant or hospital/medical lab.

Responsibilities

  • Apply high quality scientific techniques in microbiological analysis of raw ingredients, in-process production samples, finished product testing and environmental monitoring.
  • Collaborate with fellow microbiologists with clear communication in a small team.
  • Prioritize tasks to deliver accurate results and communicate effectively.
  • Perform product, environmental, and raw ingredient testing.
  • Document work, support projects, and troubleshoot issues.
  • Media preparation and general lab housekeeping.
  • Demonstrate teamwork and professional communication.

WHAT YOU’LL DO
  • Apply high quality scientific techniques in the microbiological analysis of raw ingredients, in-process production samples, finished product testing and environmental monitoring, to ensure that all products manufactured are fit for use
  • Be able to work with fellow microbiologist, with a high degree of motivation, attention to important details with clear communication to all team members. This is important due to the high degree of responsibility and working within a small group where each person is relied upon highly
  • Prioritize tasks to efficiently be completed with the most accurate results, and to communicate clearly and work together in a team environment
  • Product testing, Environmental testing, Raw ingredient testing
  • Documentation, Project work, Troubleshooting
  • Media preparation/general lab work: Housekeeping
  • Communication, Team work.
SHIFT

3rd shift, 8p - 6:30a

4 10's, Sunday - Wednesday

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Science related Associates degree, plus 1 year of appropriate college lab studies and 1 year of college mathematics), plus 2 years of laboratory experience or 4 years’ experience in a food or pharmaceutical manufacturing environment
  • Knowledge of applicable regulatory standards and requirements for infant formula and nutritionals
  • Experience working in food/pharmaceutical/medical device plant or hospital/medical lab.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Science related Bachelor’s Degree with at least 1 year of appropriate college lab studies and 1 year of college mathematics
