Job summary

Abbott’s Columbus, Ohio plant is seeking a microbiologist to apply high quality microbiological techniques to analyze raw ingredients, in-process samples, finished products and environmental monitoring.

You will work with a small team, prioritize tasks for accurate results, document findings, and support environmental testing. The 3rd shift runs 8:00 PM to 6:30 AM with 4 10-hour days, Sun-Wed. Abbott offers strong benefits, tuition assistance, and retirement plans.

Qualifications

• Science-related Associates degree with lab experience.
• 1 year of college lab studies and 1 year of college mathematics, plus 2 years of lab experience or 4 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Experience in food/pharmaceutical manufacturing plant or hospital/medical lab.

Responsibilities

• Apply high quality microbiological techniques to analyze raw ingredients, in-process samples, finished products and environmental monitoring.
• Collaborate with fellow microbiologists with clear communication in a small team.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

• Apply high quality scientific techniques in the microbiological analysis of raw ingredients, in-process production samples, finished product testing and environmental monitoring, to ensure that all products manufactured are fit for use
• Be able to work with fellow microbiologist, with a high degree of motivation, attention to important details with clear communication to all team members. This is important due to the high degree of responsibility and working within a small group where each person is relied upon highly
• Prioritize tasks to efficiently be completed with the most accurate results, and to communicate clearly and work together in a team environment
• Product testing, Environmental testing, Raw ingredient testing
• Documentation, Project work, Troubleshooting
• Media preparation/general lab work: Housekeeping
• Communication, Team work.

3rd shift, 8p - 6:30a

4 10's, Sunday - Wednesday

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Science related Associates degree, plus 1 year of appropriate college lab studies and 1 year of college mathematics), plus 2 years of laboratory experience or 4 years’ experience in a food or pharmaceutical manufacturing environment
• Knowledge of applicable regulatory standards and requirements for infant formula and nutritionals
• Experience working in food/pharmaceutical/medical device plant or hospital/medical lab.

• Science related Bachelor’s Degree with at least 1 year of appropriate college lab studies and 1 year of college mathematics

The base pay for this position is $19.05 – $38.15 per hour. In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
