Position Purpose

The Assistant Coach assists the Head Coach in managing a NCAA Division III intercollegiate program, focusing on recruitment, training, and performance of student-athletes, while adhering to relevant policies and regulations. The role involves night and weekend commitments and reports to the Head Coach.

Job Duties include:

  1. Enforcing policies and rules of Bates College, NESCAC, NCAA, and other authorities.
  2. Participating in training and professional development.
  3. Recruiting student-athletes in compliance with guidelines.
  4. Providing leadership and mentorship to student-athletes.
  5. Monitoring academic and eligibility status.
  6. Managing team expenditures and equipment.
  7. Developing motivation strategies and coordinating travel and logistics.
  8. Collaborating with strength, conditioning, and medical staff.
  9. Supporting fundraising activities.
  10. Reporting data and maintaining safety standards.
  11. Overseeing sport camps and clinics compliance.
  12. Maintaining social media and websites related to Bates Squash.

Minimum Qualifications include a Bachelor's degree, coaching experience in Squash, and a valid driver's license. Preferred qualifications include coaching at the college level, a squash playing level of 5.5 or higher, and certifications like Level 1 coaching, CPR, and First Aid.
