Position Overview

The assistant coach helps students develop skills, values, discipline, and sportsmanship related to cross country. The primary focus is on safety and student welfare. The role involves leadership and coordination in the assigned sport.

Qualifications

Applicants must meet Kansas Department of Education certification requirements or KSHSAA Rule-10 requirements.

Physical/Emotional Requirements

Must be able to walk, sit, talk, hear, stand, reach, and occasionally lift/move up to 75 pounds. Vision abilities include close, distance, and depth perception. Interaction with staff and students is required, and extended hours may be necessary.

Performance Responsibilities
  • Coach participants in sport skills
  • Coordinate with the Head Coach on schedules
  • Ensure facility safety
  • Fulfills KSHSAA testing requirements
  • Communicate effectively and foster positive relationships
  • Inform students of policies, activities, and rules
  • Care for equipment
  • Supervise participants post-practice and events until transportation is arranged
  • Support educational mission and adhere to policies
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned by the Head Coach or Principal
Terms of Employment

Salary and work year to be determined by the Board of Education.

Evaluation

Performance will be evaluated per Board policy.
