Job description

The University of Dubuque is a growing faith-based University thatis seeking an Assistant Men's Wrestling Coach. TheUniversity of Dubuque offers an excellent benefits package including tuition remission, paid holidays, vacation and sick time, and a retirement match.

Position Summary

Reporting to the Head Coach, the Assistant Men's Wrestling Coach assists in developing and implementing a strategic plan for theAthletic and Recreation departments that is consistent with theUniversity Mission and strategic plan, as well as the StudentSuccess Commitment. This position assists in program developmentrelated to student-athlete success and experiences, sport programevaluation and assessment, and effectively engaging the campus andcommunity in athletic events and facilitating experiences withinboth for student-athletes. Additionally, this position assists inmeeting all compliance and eligibility requirements for theUniversity, the American Rivers Conference, and the NCAA; andpromoting the safety and well-being of all student-athletes.Finally, this position will have additional duties within theAcademic Support Center that promote student success within theclassroom and promote the retention and persistence ofstudent-athletes.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Assist in practice planning, execution and on-matinstruction
  • Assist in the collaboration with campus partners and athleticadministration regarding facility use, upkeep, and resourcemanagement
  • Assist in developing and implementing competition plans,reports, strategies and on-mat duties as assigned
  • Assist in all phases of the recruiting process, specificallythe scouting and evaluation of skilled and academically qualifiedstudent-athletes, the matriculation process of student-athletes(including application, financial aid completion, housingregistration, required paperwork, course registration, andorientation attendance), and collaboration with campus partnersregarding the communication processes required
  • Assist in monitoring academic progress of program athletes andserve as a program liaison for staff and faculty, and facilitatethe utilization of resources to promote student success
  • Assist in planning and setting up spring break trip as well asregular season travel and meals
  • Collaborate with campus partners and athletic department staffregarding the safety and well-being of student athletes
  • Assist in event management and game promotion/partnerships
  • Assist in camps, clinics, and workshops facilitated by sportprogram
  • Assist in effectively managing and reporting conduct relatedincidences within sport program
  • Live and model the UD Mission and engage the campus andsurrounding communities in a manner that allows for the retentionand persistence of UD students
  • Collaborate with and serve the campus community
  • Facilitate educational opportunities and compliance to allUniversity, ARC, and NCAA rules and regulations
  • Serve as a Title IX Campus Security Authority
  • Ability to be an active participant in following applicablesafety rules and regulations, including necessary training anddrills
  • Perform other duties as assigned in support of the University'sMission

Qualifications
  • Undergraduate Degree Required; Graduate Degree Preferred
  • Collegiate wrestling experience preferred
  • Previous coaching experience of at least 2 years; preferably atthe college level
  • Competency and knowledge related to NCAA rules, policy, andprocedures; or experience related to rules and regulationsassociated with athletics
  • Experience preparing, monitoring, and maintaining budget; orability to learn
  • Appreciation for and ability to work within a collaborativecampus community and the ability to assist in buildingcollaborative alliances to serve students and the campuscommunities
