Position Overview

Assistant Men’s Soccer Coach, Goalkeepers – Claremont, CA. This role supports the Head Men’s Soccer Coach in all facets of the program, primarily focusing on training goalkeepers, recruiting, and compliance within CMS Athletics (Claremont McKenna, Harvey Mudd, and Scripps Colleges).

CMS Athletics competes in the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) as an NCAA Division III program with 21 varsity sports.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Head Coach with developing and implementing training and instruction for practices and competitions, focusing on goalkeepers.
• Plan and conduct team practices and coordinate travel logistics.
• Complete all administrative paperwork, such as compliance documentation and practice plans.
• Recruit and retain academically qualified student‑athletes for the colleges.
• Collaborate with CMS athletics staff on sports medicine, business operations, compliance, equipment, facilities, and events.
• Maintain comprehensive knowledge of NCAA DivisionIII rules, CMS Athletics regulations, and SCIAC guidelines.
• Represent the men’s soccer program positively in regional and national contexts.

Qualifications

Education: Bachelor’s degree required or equivalent work experience.

Experience: Prior collegiate participation and coaching preferred; experience recruiting scholar‑athletes at selective institutions preferred.

Licenses: Valid driver’s license required; must be insurable under college policy.

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

• Deep understanding of athletics in a liberal arts college setting and the integration of student‑athletes.
• Proficiency in recruiting, training, and developing student‑athletes.
• Strong administrative, interpersonal, and computer skills (MicrosoftOffice, databases, internet research).
• First‑Aid, CPR, AED certifications or willingness to obtain upon hire.
• Excellent written and verbal communication, organizational, and time‑management skills.

Employment Information

Temporary, part‑time, non‑exempt position. Hours vary with flexibility; holiday, weekend, and evening work required; travel expected. Compensation: $17.00 – $17.50 per hour.
