Job Description:

Amherst College is seeking applications for the position of Assistant Men’s and Women’s Squash Coach. As one of the most diverse liberal arts colleges in the country, Amherst values candidates who can contribute to and support a broadly diverse community.

The Assistant Men’s and Women’s Squash Coach will report to the Head Coach and assist in all aspects of the Men’s and Women’s Squash Programs. Responsibilities include recruiting diverse student-athletes, managing daily operations, implementing practices, and other duties assigned by the Head Coach and Director of Athletics. The role requires a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and overnight travel to away meets and tournaments. The assistant coach is expected to actively support a diverse student body and workforce and participate in creating a respectful, inclusive, and welcoming environment.

This position is non-benefitted.

Summary of Responsibilities:

Coaching

• Assist with coaching strategies and teaching methods to develop student-athletes’ skills and teamwork.
• Analyze team and individual performances, providing leadership and instruction.
• Assist in pre-season, in-season, and post-season training and practice planning.

Recruiting

• Participate in scouting and recruiting a diverse pool of prospective student-athletes.
• Monitor the application process of prospective student-athletes.
• Coordinate and organize on-campus visits for potential student-athletes.

Program Responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with College, NESCAC, and NCAA rules and regulations.
• Collaborate with the Head Coach to develop and strengthen team culture and foster a diverse and inclusive program.

Qualifications:

Required

• Bachelor’s Degree.
• Valid driver’s license for driving college vehicles to competitions, with successful completion of the Five College Risk Management driver credentialing program (link).
• Collegiate playing and/or coaching experience.
• Understanding of the role of intercollegiate athletics within a highly competitive academic environment.
• Experience working with or commitment to working with diverse communities.
• Successful completion of reference and background checks.
