Job summary

Kaiser Permanente in Atlanta, GA is seeking a Medical Assistant to support providers and nurses during patient care encounters. Responsibilities

  • Adheres to Kaiser Permanente policies and procedures, principles of responsibilities, and applicable local, state, and federal laws.
  • Utilizes effective communication and interpersonal skills when interacting with patients and members of the healthcare team.
  • Completes patient intake, including vital signs, height, weight, and hearing and vision screening, as indicated.
  • Identifies care gaps and schedules care gap visits/procedures, as indicated.
  • Prepares consent, school, and work forms for provider to review and sign.
  • Ensures exam rooms are clean and stocked with essential supplies and equipment for patient visits/procedures.
  • Completes point of care testing.
  • Administers in-scope immunizations and medications, as ordered, and provides patients with the most recent Vaccine Information Statement (VIS).
  • Assists practitioners with examinations, including positioning and draping the patient, passing instruments in a sterile manner, and assisting with minor procedures.
  • Documents patient care and education in the electronic medical record.
  • Actively participates in Unit Based Team (UBT) and staff meetings, department-specific education, and quality improvement initiatives.
  • May perform other in-scope duties as assigned.

Resolves patient concerns promptly and maintains departmental quality Improvement standards.

Basic Qualifications:
Experience

Education
  • High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) required.
License, Certification, Registration
  • Medical Assistant Certificate from American Association of Medical Assistants OR Registered Medical Assistant from American Medical Technologists OR Registered Medical Assistant from American Allied Health OR NCCT National Certified Medical Assistant from National Center for Competency Testing OR Registered Medical Assistant from American Association of Medical Personnel OR Certified Clinical Medical Assistant from National Healthcareer Association
  • Basic Life Support required at hire
