Job summary

Par Pacific seeks an Assistant Mechanic (Instrumentation Technician) for the Tacoma refinery. You will repair instruments and analyzers and support other mechanics in routine refinery maintenance. Union-represented (USW) with potential to advance through B and A Mechanic levels.

Minimum 3 years in instrument troubleshooting, read blueprints/diagrams, and be willing to obtain TWIC, with consistent teamwork and safety focus.

Qualifications

  • At least three (3) years’ experience and journeyman skill level in instrument troubleshooting and repair in an industrial setting.
  • Experience in repair, calibration and troubleshooting of gas analyzers is a plus.
  • Willingness to develop additional craft skills towards final qualification as “A” Mechanic.

Responsibilities

  • Repair instruments and analyzers throughout the refinery.
  • Support maintenance by assisting other multi-craft mechanics in routine work.

The Opportunity
  • Assistant Mechanic at a Growth-Oriented Energy Company
  • Union-represented (USW)
  • Ability to progress through the different higher permanent classifications with the Maintenance Department, up to including, B Mechanic and A Mechanic
  • Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor
Key activities include:
  • Repair of instruments and analyzers throughout the refinery
  • Repair or assist other multi-craft mechanics in the routine maintenance of other refinery equipment

Qualifications

To meet the basic qualifications for employment, you will have legal authorization to work permanently in the United States for any employer without requiring a visa transfer or visa sponsorship. To comply with the regulations at this work location, successful applicants must be eligible to obtain a TWIC card (Transportation Worker Identification Credential).   • At least three (3) years’ experience and journeyman skill level in instrument troubleshooting and repair, including both pneumatic and electronic instruments in an industrial maintenance environment. In-depth experience with distributed control systems required
  • Experience in repair, calibration and troubleshooting of gas analyzers a plus
  • Experience and ability to demonstrate journeyman skill level in a second craft within six months of hiring
  • Ability and willingness to develop usable skill level in a third craft area prior to final qualification as “A” Mechanic
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, plans, circuit diagrams, and loop diagrams
  • High school diploma or equivalent required. Tech school diploma highly desirable
  • Experience with various handheld communicators and calibrators
  • Ability to troubleshoot systems and individual components
  • Ability to work as part of a team
  • Ability to take on challenges and work through to completion

Starting Pay Rate: $49.42 per hour during 6 month probation, then $50.48-$54.20 based on qualifications.
