Job summary

Wausau Country Club in Schofield, Wisconsin, seeks a full-time Assistant Mechanic to support the head mechanic with equipment repairs and maintenance. You will work closely with experienced staff, perform routine service on mowing equipment, engines and carts, and gain hands-on knowledge of golf course operations.

Weekend work April–October is required, with learning opportunities and room to grow within Troon’s global platform.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Performs regular inspection of mowing equipment to ensure proper height of cut and cut quality.
• Performs routine oil changes on all equipment and carts.
• Performs tire repair and installation.
• Follows established protocols for preventive maintenance programs.
• Assists with on-course projects as needed.
• Maintains repair records for each machine.

Wausau Country Club, located in Schofield, WI, is pleased to announce an excellent career opportunity for a full-time Assistant Mechanic! We are seeking a motivated individual who is interested in contributing to a positive experience for our members and guests while continuing to grow their knowledge of golf club operations. As an associate of Troon, you will contribute to a global leader in golf and community management.

Compensation

$20.00 plus per hour depending on experience

Schedule

Weekend work required April-October, typically 3.5 hours per day, every other weekend.

Summary

You will be expected to work directly with the head mechanic, completing anything that needs to be done in regard to equipment repairs and maintenance. The head has been in the shop here for 27 years with a depth of knowledge of our equipment and regular golf course practices so there will be many learning opportunities.

Key Responsibilities

• Performs regular inspection of mowing equipment to ensure proper height of cut and cut quality.
• Performs routine oil changes on all equipment and carts.
• Performs tire repair and installation.
• Follows established protocols for preventive maintenance programs.

• Regular and timely attendance.
• Assists with snow removal during winter.
• Trains new employees on proper equipment care.
• Maintains repair records for each machine.

Minimum Qualifications

• Must be a self-starter with a strong work ethic.
• Desire to learn the intricacies of golf equipment.
• General knowledge of mechanical maintenance strongly preferred.
• Keeping a clean shop and work area is a priority.
• Knowledge of basic tool safety and proper usage.

Physical Requirements

• Frequently lifts 50-80 pounds.
• Significant time spent kneeling or on a floor creeper.
• Works in temperature extremes, from snow removal in winter to hot, humid summer days.
• Bending, twisting, and overhead reaching required for various machines.
