The Criminal Appeals Bureau (CAB) of The Legal Aid Society is the largest post-conviction public defender in New York City, providing holistic, client-centered representation to over 1,000 individuals annually with misdemeanor, felony, and homicide convictions.
We are seeking an Assistant Managing Attorney to assist in managing the Bureau. The Managing Attorney’s Office (MAO) handles procedural aspects of appellate practice, including case assignments, record retrieval, and case distribution. The Assistant Managing Attorney will oversee daily operations, supervise staff, liaise with court personnel, and ensure case progress and issue resolution, exercising significant discretion and judgment.
Range: $130,000 - $135,200, with comprehensive benefits including health insurance, paid leave, and loan forgiveness programs. The salary may vary based on experience and qualifications.
