Big 5 Sporting Goods Corporation is seeking an Assistant Manager Trainee for a part-time role. This entry-level position offers a structured training program and promotion opportunities into higher management under experienced personnel, in a fast-paced retail environment.

You will work closely with store leadership to develop leadership skills, supervise staff, and support daily store operations including customer service, merchandising, inventory, and loss prevention.

Our Assistant Manager Trainee Part-time gains knowledge and experience,requiredfor promotion to higher management positions underdirectionof experienced personnel, by performing the following duties personally or through subordinates. A well-defined training program will be provided to help you develop your way in our management structure. This entry-level position is purposely designed to be transitory andgenerally lasts6-18 monthsbefore promotion to the next level. Primary Duties

• Provide excellent customer service andassistcustomers throughout the store


• Answer phone calls and respond to customer inquiries


• Recommend products and suggest add-on sales


• Merchandising and complianceofall company policies


• Setting promotional signage


• Checking and retrieving merchandise from stockroom as needed


• Maintain a clean, organized, and fully stocked sales floor


• Assistwith store opening and closing procedures


• Training newly hired associates


• Directing sales and cashier associates throughout the store


• Inventory control and enforcement of loss prevention policies


• Enforcement of all company policies


• Performs or may performadditionalduties as assigned by management and supervision

Position Requirements

• Must be 21 years of age or older


• Strong communicationand interpersonal skills


• Mustpossessbasic organizational and/or applicable math skills


• Detail-oriented and reliable


• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment


• Basic knowledge of sporting goods is a plus


• MustpossessHigh School diploma, GED, or High School Equivalency Exam
