Job summary

Big 5 Sporting Goods Corporation in Bakersfield, CA, is seeking an Assistant Manager Trainee for a part-time role. You will deliver excellent customer service, assist with store opening/closing, supervise sales and cashier staff, and ensure merchandising standards while learning every aspect

Qualifications

• Marketable customer service experience with strong communication skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced retail environment and handle multiple tasks.
• Interest in sports and outdoor activities is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Provide excellent customer service and assist customers throughout the store.
• Answer phone calls and respond to customer inquiries.
• Recommend products and suggest add-on sales.
• Merchandising and compliance with company policies.
• Setting promotional signage and ensuring accurate pricing.
• Retrieve merchandise from stockroom and stock shelves as needed.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and fully stocked sales floor.
• Assist with store opening and closing procedures.
• Train newly hired associates and supervise sales staff.
• Directing sales and cashier associates throughout the store.
• Inventory control and enforcement of loss prevention policies.
• Enforcement of all company policies.
• Perform other duties as assigned by management.
