Job Summary
The Assistant Manager is a member of the store management team and performs functions which support all customers and salesmen. Continue professional development to achieve future job progression; under the tutelage of the Store Manager, excel in existing Sales Associaee responsibilities while training through day-to-day involvement of the logistical and physical operations of the store. All direct commercial support activities, including stocking quantities, procurement, job-site delivery, contractor/job records management, equipment maintenance, and more, are included in the Assistant Manager’s responsibilities.

Job Responsibilities
- Order processing, accurately tint and mix paint using formulated colors and the color matching system according to company specifications. Record data in customer color history files.
- Inventory control; aisle, slotting and routine cycle counts, stock ordering, write-offs
- Keep secure and protect company and corporate inventory and assets. (Product, equipment, cash/funds)
- Greet customers as they enter the store and assist them in identifying their paint product needs.
- Answer customer inquiries in person and by phone, resolve issues in a professional and timely manner.
- Provide product suggestions based on customer and project requirements, preferences, and budget.
- Educate customers on paint application techniques and product usage.
- Operate point-of-sale (POS) system, process sales, product, inventory & pricing inquiries.
- Keep the store organized, clean, tidy, and inviting.
- Cooperate with team members to achieve service and sales goals and ensure customer satisfaction.
- Stay updated on product knowledge, industry trends, and store promotions.
- Adhere to company policies and procedures, safety guidelines and inventory management protocols.
- Shipping and receiving; unload and put away freight, stock shelves, rotate inventory, organize merchandise, prepare shipments as directed.
- Operate equipment, forklifts, pallet jacks, hand trucks, load and unload vehicles in a safe manner.
- Adhere to workplace safety and health rules. Promptly report injuries, hazards, incidents or concerns.
- Proper use and maintenance of company provided PPE (personal protection equipment)
- For delivery driver portion duties, safely and lawfully operate the company vehicle so travel time and distance is optimal. Ensure load is properly secured, complete vehicle pre-trip check.
Knowledge, Skills, Requirements and Essential Functions
- Two years of demonstrated experience as a Rodda-Miller Paint or coatings industry related Sales Associate or Assistant Manager.
- Current employees: All prerequisite position training completed, excellent attendance record, no disciplinary corrective actions. Track record of positive, collaborative, productive presence at work and with co-workers. Proficient and demonstrated experience in Sales Associate, job functions, and requirements.
- Comply with work schedule, arrive punctually and remain for the entirety of shift. This is a job requirement.
- Scheduling / reporting for the position must remain flexible and available given the needs of the business.
- Effective time and organizational management to provide results when handling multiple priorities
- Training: Complete all required job training including, but not limited to: Sales Associate, Management, Hiring Training, HMIS / DOT Transportation & Handling of Dangerous Goods, Safe Driving, SERVICE 6, forklift cert. (if required), Workplace Fairness / Code of Conduct, Workplace Safety / Accident Prevention Program, COVID-19 Store Protocols,
- Driving: Ability to legally drive for business is an essential job function. Maintain an MVR, which is consistent with company’s safe-driving guidelines. Possess an active, unrestricted driver’s license in the state of residence.
- Oral communication skills: Proficient; fully conversant (speaking, listening), fluent in English
- Reading and writing skills: Proficient; reading and writing documents in standard English text
- Mathematical Skills: Proficient and accurate in adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing whole numbers, fractions, and decimals. Understanding measures and weights. Money computation, making accurate change.
- Computer/POS: Proficient skills required. Computer efficiency in using software programs such as color computer software, Outlook, Excel, Word, JDE/AS400/POS, internet navigation, online training, etc.
- High School Graduate or GED Equivalent

Physical Requirements
- The work environment consists of physical conditions typical of a commercial store, sales floor environment. The job is performed while standing with regular walking and the lifting and carrying of various paint containers and related items. The surfaces are hard, flat cement floors.
- Full-physical mobility is required for the performance of every store position. Employees are required to use provided PPE, lift and movement assist methods and equipment to reduce the risk of injury.
