Crotched Mountain is seeking an Assistant Manager for the Ski & Ride School. The role leads staff, oversees competition services, and manages departmental administration to deliver exceptional guest experiences and safe, efficient program operations.

The position coordinates race programming, staffing, budgeting, and payroll support, acting as a liaison among guests, athletes, coaches, parents, and resort departments while collaborating with leadership to grow the program.

Qualifications

• Three or more years of Ski & Ride School/instruction or related role.
• Experience with scheduling, staffing, and administrative functions.
• US Ski & Snowboard coaching certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Support daily operation of the Ski & Ride School ensuring guest service excellence.
• Lead, coach, schedule, and support supervisors, instructors, and staff.

Job Summary

The Assistant Manager, Ski & Ride School (Competition Services & Administration) supports the overall operation of the Ski & Ride School through leadership of staff, oversight of competition services, and management of departmental administrative functions. This position assists in delivering exceptional guest experiences, maintaining operational excellence, supporting employee development, and ensuring safe and efficient program operations. The role coordinates race and competition programming, staffing, scheduling, budgets, payroll support, and operational resources while serving as a key liaison between guests, athletes, coaches, parents, and resort departments. The Assistant Manager works closely with Ski &Ride School leadership and other resort departments to achieve business objectives and support department growth.

Job Responsibilities

• Support the Ski & Ride School Manager in the daily operation of the department, ensuring exceptional guest service, operational efficiency, and adherence to company policies and procedures.
• Lead, coach, develop, schedule, and support supervisors, instructors, competition coaches, and support staff.
• Oversee daily operations of competition services, including race programs, training groups, athlete registration, attendance tracking, and event logistics.
• Coordinate race schedules, training venues, course preparation, equipment needs, and event execution.
• Assist with recruiting, onboarding, training, and performance management of departmental staff.
• Resolve guest concerns and complaints using company values and established service recovery practices.
• Manage administrative functions including payroll support, staffing coordination, record keeping, reporting, equipment inventory, and program documentation.
• Assist with departmental budgeting, labor management, and expense control to support financial goals.
• Maintain a strong culture of safety by ensuring compliance with resort policies, risk management practices, and safety standards for guests, athletes, and employees.
• Collaborate with Ski Patrol, Mountain Operations, Marketing, and other resort departments to support instruction programs, competition services, and departmental initiatives.

Education

• High School Diploma or equivalent

Work Experience

• Minimum three (3) years of experience as a Ski & Ride School Instructor, Competition Coach, or related ski industry role.
• Experience with ski school operations, competition services, race programs, or athlete development programs.
• Experience with scheduling, staffing, and administrative functions.

Supervisory Experience

• Minimum two (2) years of supervisory or leadership experience.

Licenses/Accreditations

• US Ski & Snowboard coaching certification preferred.

Computer Skills

• Microsoft Office proficiency.
• Experience with RPOS or similar resort management systems preferred.

Language(s) Skill

• Fluent in written and spoken English.

Other Requirements

• Strong guest service, communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work outdoors in varying winter weather conditions.
• Ability to work flexible schedules including weekends, evenings, holidays, and peak operational periods.
• Must pass a background check.

Preferred Skills

• Experience managing competition programs, race events, or athlete development programs.
• Knowledge of US Ski & Snowboard race operations and event standards.
• College degree or equivalent experience in recreation, education, business, sports management, or a related field.

The expected pay range is$52,000.00 - $67,267.00. This is the pay range we reasonably expect to pay for this position. Individual compensation decisions are based on a variety of factors.
