Job summary

San José Unified is seeking an Assistant Manager in the Procurement Department to oversee Facilities and Construction projects from inception to close-out, coordinating with districts, consultants, and local/state agencies under various public contract delivery methods.

You will update district programs, budgets, schedules, and standards, and help generate agreements, meeting records, and annual reports while supporting audits and compliance efforts to ensure student-centered operations.

Assistant Manager role in the Procurement Department oversees Facilities and Construction and is responsible for managing construction projects from inception to close out as both a District Project Manager and a Construction Manager through various Public Contract Code delivery methods while synchronizing user groups, consultants, and local/state agencies. The Assistant Manager updates District programs, agendas, budgets, schedules, complex multi-year databases, and District standards. Job duties also include generating and executing (services and lease) agreements, meeting documentation, annual committee reports, and assisting with annual performance audits. Legal Requirements

Effective January 1, 2026, in accordance with California Senate Bill 848 (School Employee Misconduct/Child Abuse Prevention Act), applicants for employment with San José Unified are subject to enhanced child safety, training, and employment disclosure requirements. SB 848 also expands mandated reporter requirements and requires annual child abuse prevention training for employees and certain volunteers by July 1, 2026. All employees must comply with district-adopted child safety policies, including procedures for supervising and protecting students.
