Job summary

Making Opportunity Count Inc. seeks an Assistant Manager of Shelter Case Management to support case management and client services across shelters in the MA Metro area. You will supervise the case management team, ensure services meet the EOHLC scope, and maintain compliant operations.

You will work with Shelter Manager and Director to guide families toward rehousing, track progress, and handle crises with composure while maintaining a professional demeanor and strong organizational practices.

Qualifications

• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
• 5 years’ experience in the human service field.
• 2 years’ experience working within the State’s Family Emergency Assistance Shelter Program funded by EOHLC.
• Training in CPR and First Aid.
• Ability to demonstrate compassion and understand the needs of homeless families.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to set limits in a fair and supportive way.
• Ability to think creatively and respond to crises quickly and calmly.
• Maintain a polite and professional demeanor.
• Strong organizational skills.
• Experience in shelter, housing stabilization, clinical service, trauma-informed care.
• Experience developing culturally and linguistically diverse programs for diverse backgrounds.
• Prominent commitment to DEI and ability to lead cultural competency initiatives.
• Preferred multi-lingual or bilingual abilities.
• Adaptable in conflict with multiple priorities.

Responsibilities

• Serve as onsite staff presence to families in the Shelter and assist case managers with goals for placement.
• Track case management efforts to ensure compliance with EOHLC Shelter Scope of Services.
• Ensure residents abide by shelter rules and enforce them as needed.
• Assign a case manager to all new entering families and meet immediate needs.
• Maintain accuracy of spreadsheets and reports.
• Log progress toward rehousing goals for case managers.
• Record and communicate transportation usage by residents.
• Respond to crises with back-up from leadership as needed.
• Provide supervision and accountability for case management staff.
• Attend EOHLC meetings and trainings as required.
• Perform other duties as assigned by Shelter Manager/Director.

Position Overview:

The Assistant Manager of Shelter Case Management is responsible for supporting the case management and client services of various shelters across North Central Massachusetts. The Assistant Manager of Shelter Case Management provides a constant presence for the families residing at the Shelter by ensuring their needs are met. Working in coordination with the Shelter Manager, and under the supervision of the Director of Shelter Case Management, the position always provides a professional presence, providing guidance and supervision to the case management team, ensuring families are receiving quality case management services and the program’s compliance with EOHLC Shelter Scope of Services.

Note: This role is predominantly located in the MA Metro area.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• The Assistant Manager of Shelter Case Management serves as an onsite staff presence to families residing in the Shelter and assists case managers with establishing goals for families in order to achieve our overall placement goal.
• Track case management efforts to ensure compliance with EOHLC Shelter Scope of Services.
• The Assistant Manager of Shelter Case Management ensures that all residents are abiding by shelter rules and enforce the rules as necessary.
• Ensure all new families entering shelter are assigned a case manager, and immediate needs are met.
• Maintain accuracy of various spreadsheets and reports.
• The Assistant Manager of Shelter Case Management maintains an accurate log of the case managers’ progress towards rehousing goals.
• Ensure that all transportation utilized by residents is properly recorded and communicated.
• The Assistant Manager of Shelter Case Management responds to crises, with back-up from the Shelter Manager and/or the Director of Shelter Operations and Director of Shelter Case Management.
• Provide supervision and accountability for case management staff.
• Attending all EOHLC meetings and training, as needed, determined by the Director of Shelter Case Management.
• Other duties as assigned by the Shelter Manager and Director of Shelter Case Management.

Compensation:

A salary within the range of $30.24 to $40.91 per hour will be provided to the successful candidate having met the minimum requirements for the position consistent with the MOC compensation philosophy.
