Action Staffing Group is recruiting an Assistant MV Department Manager to lead MV operations onsite in Irvington, NJ, alongside the MV Department Manager. Typical schedule is Monday–Friday, 7 am–5 pm, with 1–2 Saturdays monthly from 7 am–12 pm.

Salary starts at $150K and depends on experience. The role focuses on safety, operations oversight, personnel management, maintenance coordination, quality, and continuous improvement initiatives within the MV department.

Qualifications

  • College diploma preferred.
  • 3–5 years management experience in manufacturing.
  • Familiarity with ISO 9001:2015 QMS.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee MV operations with the department manager.
  • Ensure safety standards and coordinate with EHS teams.
  • Manage department headcount, onboarding and PTO approvals in ADP.
  • Coordinate with Maintenance/Facilities for PM plans and external contractors.
  • Assist with month-end close in collaboration with Finance.
  • Drive root cause analyses and capacity/production efficiency projects.
  • Maintain the department scorecard and support OEE reporting.
  • Assist QA and support ISO audit readiness.

Job description

Our client is hiring an Assistant MV Department Manager

Onsite in Irvington, NJ - Monday throught Friday - 7 am to 5 pm

1 to 2 Saturdays per month 7 am - 12 pm

Salary starting at $150K dependent on experience

The Assistant Medium Voltage Department Manager will partner with MV Department Manager to oversee all functions of MV Operations.

Safety
  • Ensure safety standards are met within the working areas and collaborate with MV Department Manager and the EHS team on actions and sustainability.
  • Maintain a culture of safety
  • Assist the Department Manager with all EHS notifications added to the EHS notification tracker
  • Participate in Gemba walks and report findings during the weekly meeting
  • Report, review and fill out MOCs ( Management of Change) as needed
Reporting
  • Collaborate with the Department Manager regarding MDI (Daily stand-up) meetings and ensure actions created by the MDI are reviewed and closed in a timely manner.
  • Participate in monthly SIOP meetings and work directly with Sales, MV Product Manager and Planner to meet customer demand.
  • Drive root cause analysis meetings when targets aren't achieved.
  • Participate in capacity and production efficiency projects
  • Maintain the department's scorecard
  • Work with the C&I Team on OEE reporting and any other continuous improvement tasks
Personnel/Human Resources
  • Responsible for the department's head count based on customer demand and department targets. Request new hires as needed.
  • Responsible for onboarding new employees and terminating existing employees who do not meet department or company standards
  • Manage the direct reports (Assembly/Packaging Manager, Electrical Testing Manager and Molding Production Manager)
  • Review and approve all requests for PTO in ADP (direct reports)
  • Provide coverage on time card approval though ADP by every week's deadline
  • Review and approve all Medium Voltage D365 system transactions and provide reason codes for variances
  • Assist the Finance team with closing the fiscal month
Maintenance/Facilities
  • Ensure proper 5S is followed in the MV production areas
  • Coordinate with the Maintenance manager the PM (Preventative Maintenance) plan
  • Work with Facilities Manager on projects requiring external contractors
Quality
  • Work with QC Manager and Head of Quality on all applicable initiatives
  • Participate in Quality related RCCAs
  • Support the Department Manager ensuring the department's conformance during the annual ISO audit
Requirements
  • College Diploma is great preferred
  • 3-5 years Management experience (Manufacturing preferred)
  • Company's Quality Management System and ISO 9001:2015 awareness
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, public speaking, and leadership skills.
  • Innovative with motivational mentality.
  • Excellent management, leadership, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
