Job summary

Rack Room Shoes is seeking an Assistant Manager to support the Store Manager in daily operations and drive sales, service, and standards. You will lead staff, train associates, and ensure policy compliance while providing an outstanding customer shopping experience in our store.

In this role you will assist with payroll, inventory control, and visual merchandising, maintaining high standards of store presentation and safety.

Job Description Summary

The Assistant Manager assists the Store Manager in managing all day‑to‑day store operations and ensures compliance with company policies and procedures. Provides leadership, guidance, and training to store staff per the Store Manager’s direction. In the absence of the Store Manager, the Assistant Store Manager takes total responsibility for all store operations while consistently striving to meet and exceed established sales, service, and operational objectives.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Primary responsibility is the safety and welfare of employees and customers.
• Create, establish and maintain an excellent customer shopping experience; maintain and reinforce current service level standards; provide service training and leadership to staff; manage customer issues with urgency and to customer satisfaction.
• Process all POS terminal transactions in accordance with policy and procedure for sales, discounts, refunds, loyalty and open/closing procedures.
• Inventory Control: shipping and receiving, price management (price changes, markdowns), singles, damaged merchandise, and conducting a physical inventory.
• Sales Floor Merchandising and Visual Presentation: merchandise placement, floor maintenance and housekeeping, promotional event directions, materials and signage.
• Payroll Control: scheduling, payroll budget compliance, time and attendance.
• Training and Development of direct reports: utilization of all available training tools, consistent reinforcement of operational standards.
• Loss Prevention: protect and control all company assets.
• Work toward a complete understanding of managing all day-to-day operations.

Customers, Sales Associates, Store Management, District/Regional Managers, Store Operations and Training Personnel.
