Job summary

Standard Wellness is seeking an Assistant Manager – Inventory to partner with the General Manager in overseeing inventory, product flow, and compliance. The role drafts orders with the central buyer within budget, tracks aging and expiring stock, and communicates with vendors on issues.

This is a back-of-house leadership position with cross-training for coverage. Responsibilities include overseeing inventory intake, cycle counts, labeling accuracy, and ensuring regulatory and SOP compliance

Qualifications

• Must be at least 21 years old.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Pass all background checks and licensing per state rules.
• Cannabis industry experience preferred but not required.
• Minimum 2 years in retail/hospitality or regulated industry; 1 year in leadership.

Position Summary:

The Assistant Manager – Inventory supports the General Manager as the primary role overseeing inventory management, product flow, and inventory compliance. This role partners closely with the central buyer to assemble draft orders within assigned budget parameters, manage aging and expiring inventory, and communicate professionally with vendors regarding product and invoice issues. This role will provide operational and Manager on Duty support as needed, however is primarily a back-of-house inventory leadership role. All members of management will be cross trained to provide coverage.

Essential Job Functions:

Inventory Planning Responsibilities

• Partner with the central buyer to review inventory needs, sales trends, product performance, and store priorities.
• Assemble draft product orders within assigned budget parameters for review and final approval.
• Monitor inventory levels to support in-stock position, product availability, and healthy sell-through.
• Identify aging, low-performing, and expiring inventory and execute discounting and action plans in accordance with company SOPs.
• Maintain strict confidentiality of patient, guest, and business information.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

Inventory Oversight

• Oversee inventory intake, receiving, product naming accuracy, eCommerce listing accuracy transfers, cycle counts, audits, and reconciliation.
• Maintain accurate and compliant inventory records for all cannabis and non-cannabis products.
• Execute inventory destruction processes and associated documentation in accordance with state regulations and company SOPs.
• Investigate inventory discrepancies and investigate or resolve issues in accordance with company procedures.
• Ensure all labeling, packaging, and documentation requirements are met at intake and point of sale.
• Maintain organization, cleanliness, and accuracy in the vault, fulfillment, and stock areas, including restocking the sales floor.
• Communicate professionally with vendors regarding product issues, invoice questions, delivery discrepancies, and other inventory-related matters.
• Support new product launches including communication to store teams.
• Ensure all back-of-house workflows are executed accurately, efficiently, and in compliance with state regulations and company SOPs.

Operational Support

• Serve as Manager on Duty when assigned, help direct daily task execution and role assignments when needed.
• Able to oversee opening and closing procedures, including inventory protocols, cash counts, and daily operational reporting.
• Support front-of-house staff with product availability, inventory visibility, and break or floor coverage as needed.
• Communicate product updates, promotions and inventory priorities to store staff.
• Assist with opening and closing procedures, inventory protocols, and daily operational reporting as assigned.
• Provide feedback to management regarding employee performance related to inventory execution, compliance, and task completion.

Qualifications:

• Must be at least 21 years of age.
• Must have a high school diploma, or the equivalent.
• Must be able to pass all background check requirements and obtain licensing as set forth by the applicable state cannabis regulatory body.
• Prior cannabis industry experience preferred but not required.
• Minimum 2 years of retail, hospitality, or regulated industry experience, with at least 1 year in a leadership role preferred.
• Must be able to perform the essential functions of the job with or without an accommodation.
• Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Knowledge of retail operations, inventory control, and customer service best practices.
• Proficiency with POS and inventory tracking systems and ability to learn new software quickly.
• Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and documentation accuracy.
• Effective communication and leadership skills with the ability to coach team members.
• Ability to multitask in a fast-paced, regulated environment.
