The Manager in Training (MIT) program is a blended-learning, multi-week program focused on immersing a manager in all aspects involved in managing a multi-million dollar business for the company.

The MIT must successfully complete the training program to progress into a Manager role.

Job Description:

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in related field preferred.

Work Experiences:

  • At least three years of relevant work experience required.
  • Demonstrated success in leading departments of up to 40 people to drive operational excellence and meet sales targets.

Skills:

  • Exceptional supervisory and management skills; ability to coach team members on store policies, protocols, and expectations; leads by example and drives team performance.
  • Excellent customer service orientation.
  • Effective problem-solving and communication skills with customers and team members.
  • Strong business acumen, understanding business implications of decisions, market knowledge, and profitability focus.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret business and technical documents.
  • Clear, positive, and persuasive communication; active listening skills.
  • Proficient in writing reports, business correspondence, and manuals.
  • Effective presentation skills and responsiveness to questions from groups.
  • Sound judgment and decision-making abilities.
  • Working knowledge of inventory, order processing, payroll systems, and Microsoft Office.
  • Basic mathematical skills and ability to follow instructions in various formats.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Full-time position averaging 45-50 hours/week.
  • Preparation for management of the entire store.
  • Participate in personnel decisions including hiring, training, discipline, and development.
  • Learn to oversee and execute department standards including staffing, customer service, merchandising, and safety.
  • Provide direction to sales team and ensure excellent customer interactions.
  • Develop and implement strategies to meet operational goals.
  • Understand workforce productivity and process improvements.
  • Ensure compliance with sales, safety, and security regulations.
  • Supervise departmental standards adherence.
  • Assist in store audits, floor walks, and implementation of feedback.
  • Learn firearm sales procedures, including ATF compliance, and sign off as final approver.
  • Complete Firearms Sales Certification training.
  • Understand and enforce company policies and safety rules.
  • Adhere to work hours and management policies.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Physical Requirements & Attendance:

  • Regular talking, hearing, standing, walking; occasional climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling.
  • Lift up to 25 pounds occasionally; up to 10 pounds frequently.
  • Specific vision abilities required.

Full-time position.
