Job Title: Assistant Manager, Electronic Payments

Overview:

The Electronic Payments Assistant Manager is responsible for overseeing and optimizing the daily operations of the Electronic Payments department.

What You Will Do:

  • This leadership role requires managing and mentoring the team to ensure the accurate and efficient processing of all electronic transactions, including ACH, drafts, Faster Payments (Zelle, RTP, and FedNow), and other faster payment solutions.
  • The position demands a deep understanding of relevant regulatory frameworks, industry standards, and innovative payment technologies.
  • Additionally, the role involves ensuring the seamless execution of process improvements and contributing to the successful completion of strategic initiatives within the department.
  • Oversee daily operational service, quality, and productivity of the department.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and internal policies. Maintain updated knowledge of regulatory and operational changes or enhancements affecting department and operations functions.
  • Develop, implement, and continuously refine standard operating procedures to deliver exceptional service to both members and internal teams while optimizing workflow efficiency and operational quality.
  • Act as a resource for handling inquiries and resolving complex issues related to ACH, drafts, and payment processing, providing analytical insight and solutions in a professional and service-oriented manner.
  • Investigate and resolve any discrepancies or issues related to electronic payments. Work closely with risk and fraud teams to assess and resolve potential risk factors.
  • Review and complete payment related GL reconciliations to ensure accuracy and assist in identifying and resolving any GL out-of-balance issues.
  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and maintain reports to track transaction volumes, error rates, and other relevant metrics.
  • Continuously monitor department performance to ensure service level agreements (SLAs) for electronic payments are met. Take proactive steps to address issues and maintain a high quality of service.

What We Are Looking For:

  • Minimum of 5 years of similar or related work experience with at least 4 years specializing in Automated Clearing House (ACH) and Payment operations and a minimum of 2 years in a managerial role. Prior experience within credit unions, banks, or financial institutions is highly desirable.
  • High school diploma or equivalent; 4-year college degree preferred.
  • Accredited ACH Professional (AAP) certification required.
  • Deep expertise in ACH processing, payment platforms, electronic funds transfers, and check clearing operations along with comprehensive knowledge of relevant regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborative mindset with the ability to work seamlessly with cross-functional management teams to enhance member services and develop innovative solutions.
  • Proficient in designing, developing, and implementing policies and procedures that drive operational excellence.
  • Excellent interpersonal and management skills. Able to effectively manage and lead a team.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgement consistent with the Credit Union’s policy and to apply legal and regulatory requirements to department functions.
  • Ability to assess situations and problems, research and identify options, and recommend a solution.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to motivate influence, educate and advise others on matters of significance.
  • Solid PC Skills; Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Microsoft Office

Pay Grade Info:

To provide greater transparency to candidates, we share base pay ranges for all our job postings regardless of State. We set standard pay ranges for all roles based on function and level of expertise, benchmarked against similar stage growth companies. Final offer amounts are determined by multiple factors including, skills, depth of work experience and relevant licenses/credentials, and may vary from the amounts listed below.

The base pay range for this position is: $35-$44 /hourly.
