The Assistant Store Manager is an entry-level management position responsible for day-to-day supervision of non-management associates, assigning work, focusing on store operations, coaching, and developing subordinate Shift Supervisors and other staff. This role provides an opportunity for entry-level managers to learn essential management skills and exercise judgment and discretion. It is a non-exempt position reporting to the General Store Manager.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Supervise daily activities of multiple non-exempt associates.
  • Assign work tasks and activities.
  • Prepare daily orders, ensure proper stock levels, and maintain inventory controls following policies set by the Asset Protection Team.
  • Conduct on-the-job training for associates, ensuring they receive basic skills training.
  • Ensure compliance with brand standards and legal health, safety, and sanitation standards.
  • Use judgment to resolve routine issues and escalate complex problems.
  • Support, coach, and motivate team members to achieve business goals.
  • Provide ongoing feedback aligned with individual and business development goals.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS, EXPERIENCE, AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Up to 1 year of related experience in food, beverage, or merchandise operations, or as a supervisor, lead, or entry-level manager.
  • Team management, delegation, and issue resolution skills; ability to multi-task.
  • Knowledge of Applegreen’s policies, products, and operational standards.
  • Flexible availability including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Teams).
  • Ability to read, understand, and communicate instructions and policies effectively.
