POSITION OBJECTIVE:

The Assistant Store Manager is responsible for supporting the Store Manager in promoting a customer and product-focused sales culture, where our values and guiding principles are at the forefront of all store operations. This includes managing sales operations, asset protection, and human resources functions to ensure a great customer experience and maximum profitability. FUNCTIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Performance Culture
  1. Analyze sales reports and KPIs to determine business needs; collaborate with Store Manager to execute in-store business and sales strategies.
  2. Establish and communicate clear expectations; hold team and self accountable for achieving brand, performance, and behavior standards.
  3. Control payroll and supply budgets.
  4. Perform and oversee operational activities such as scheduling, audits, inventory, opening/closing duties, timesheet review, payroll accuracy, and merchandise flow.
  5. Handle financial activities including cash handling, price changes, and merchandise handling, ensuring accuracy and policy compliance.
  6. Ensure compliance with laws, loss prevention policies, and operating procedures; conduct associate training on controls.
  7. Manage inventory receipt/dispatch, replenishment, and physical inventories.
  8. Maintain visual presentation, organization, and facility standards.
  9. Develop a high-performance culture, motivating sales team to meet goals.
  10. Train and coach team on product knowledge and selling techniques.
Building High Performing Teams
  1. Motivate and inspire team, promoting shared vision and core values.
  2. Encourage inclusive, collaborative problem solving.
  3. Communicate effectively with team and Store Manager to lead positive change.
  4. Seek personal development opportunities and feedback to build leadership skills.
Customer Experience
  1. Promote MAPS principles and standards, offering a cohesive omni-channel experience.
  2. Use sales techniques and product knowledge to assist customers; recommend and locate merchandise.
  3. Resolve customer concerns promptly.
  4. Ensure efficient register operations, understanding policies on payments, returns, and security.
  5. Maintain consistent client communication via customer book, rewards, and sign-up programs.
Talent
  1. Assist in recruiting, hiring, and developing high-performing team members.
  2. Implement and follow up on training programs.
  3. Assess and coach team performance.
  4. Address HR issues promptly in partnership with Store Manager.
  5. Drive engagement through recognition and rewards.
  6. Ensure adherence to employment policies.

Other duties as assigned. This role may vary across brands.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • 2+ years retail management experience preferred
  • Must be 18 or older
  • Excellent communication skills

  • Strong organizational and multi-tasking skills
  • Leadership, training, and team-building abilities

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Constant walking/standing (67-100%)
  • Occasional lifting up to 50 lbs. (1-33%)
  • Frequent climbing (34-66%)
