Position Overview

The Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) supports the Director of Nursing in providing leadership and oversight for the cardiovascular ICU and IMC units. This role involves managing nursing staff, ensuring high-quality patient care, maintaining compliance with standards, and fostering a collaborative and safe environment. The ADON assumes administrative authority on a 24/7 basis for the assigned units and promotes initiatives that improve safety, quality, and patient satisfaction.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement unit goals, policies, and procedures in collaboration with the Director of Nursing.
  • Foster effective interdisciplinary relationships to ensure efficient patient care and throughput.
  • Evaluate staff performance, conduct reviews, and support professional development.
  • Manage budgets, ensure resource availability, and support organizational financial goals.
  • Lead quality improvement initiatives, safety protocols, and compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Participate in hiring, staff evaluation, and competency development.
  • Maintain professional standards and participate in hospital committees and community outreach.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing (required); Master's preferred.
  • 3-4 years of progressive nursing experience; leadership experience preferred.
  • Current RN licensure in Maryland or District of Columbia.
  • Specialty certification in nursing or nursing administration preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in computer applications, especially MS PowerPoint and Excel.

This position offers a salary range of $100,588 - $190,340 and is classified as Mid-Senior level, full-time in the healthcare industry.
