Responsibilities

Express is seeking an Assistant Manager to join our team.

The Assistant Manager assists the Store Manager in supervising the store operations, recruiting, management, training, and sales functions, driving productivity, complying with company policies, and creating a great in-store shopping experience for our retail customers.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Assists in developing, inspiring, and retaining top talent.
  2. Maintain a positive work environment, which encourages an exceptionally high level of store morale. Focusing on creating an environment built on teamwork and inspiring a "one team" mentality.
  3. Coach, teach and train Sales Associates for effective job performance.
  4. Partner with the Store Manager to identify high performing Sales Associates to assist in their growth.
  5. May assist in the hiring process for Sales Associates by participating in interviews and providing feedback to the Store Manager.
  6. Support the Store Manager's analysis of the business and help to execute/communicate clear action plans that optimize results and ensure effective execution of all operational activities.
  7. Assist in overseeing all aspects of daily store operations.
  8. Execute action plans to optimize results.
  9. Ensure sales floor coverage in order to meet customer expectations.
  10. Oversee merchandise flow, such as shipment, replenishment, and omnichannel operations, throughout the store.
  11. Maintain adherence to Company Policies and ensure the safety of associates and customers.
  12. Manage the execution of the store strategy to achieve performance goals.
  13. Optimize sales/operations opportunity by leading the associates to consistently execute merchandising strategies, operations, loyalty programs, and other company initiatives.
  14. Support a store environment focused on consistently delivering a great in-store experience.
  15. Lead by example in creating a culture of proactive customer engagement to exceed our customer's expectations.
  16. Greet and assist all customers in a friendly manner, sharing information on product, promotions, and loyalty programs.
  17. Resolve any customer complaints. Determine the source of issues and take initiative to identify and resolve them.
  18. Act as the customer experience leader; accountable for results of the customer experience and create action plans to improve performance.
  19. Create a positive in-store experience through visual standards.
  20. Other essential functions may occur as directed by your supervisor.

Required Experience & Qualifications
  1. Education: High School or Equivalent.
  2. Years of Experience: 1-3 years of relevant job experience.
  3. Proficient in use of technology (iPad, registers).
  4. Demonstrates strong customer service skills.
  5. Meets defined availability criteria, including nights, weekends, and non-business hours.
  6. Meets physical requirements.

Critical Skills & Attributes
  1. Previous retail experience preferred.
  2. Proven ability to drive sales results.
  3. Strong communication skills.
  4. Minimum of two years relevant experience.
  5. Prior sales management experience.

Actual compensation offered is dependent upon a number of factors including, but not limited to, work location, education, relevant skills, and experience of the candidate.
