Job summary

SONIC Drive-In in Kahului, Hawaii seeks an Assistant Manager to support the General Manager in drive‑in operations, ensuring a high‑quality, safe, and efficient customer experience. You will supervise and coach team members, direct shift operations, monitor staffing and inventory, and assist with opening and closing duties, guest service, and administrative tasks to keep the restaurant running smoothly.

Qualifications

• Minimum six months of restaurant management experience (QSR) or one year of entry-level retail management.
• Ability to work irregular hours, nights, weekends and holidays.
• Effective communication and basic math, reading, and computer skills.

• Adherence to appearance, uniform, and hygiene standards.

Responsibilities

Assistant Manager – SONIC Drive‑In

The Assistant Manager supports the General Manager in all aspects of drive‑in operations, ensuring a high‑quality, safe, and efficient customer experience.

Responsibilities

• Manages, trains, monitors and coaches team/crew members, carhops, and skating carhops.
• Directs and assigns drive‑in restaurant employees as needed to ensure all aspects of food service meet operational standards.
• Adheres to and monitors employee compliance with the drive‑in restaurant employee handbook, policies, and practices.
• Performs restaurant opening and/or closing duties.
• Monitors and makes appropriate adjustments to staffing levels, inventory levels, and food cost control.
• Completes weekly inventory as needed.
• Assists in administrative duties including maintaining files, records, and all required documentation.
• Reinforces a customer‑service mentality and ensures all employees focus on serving the customer at all times.
• Responds immediately and respectfully to guest requests, reports guest complaints to the immediate supervisor, and aids in resolving such complaints.

Requirements

• Ability to work irregular hours, nights, weekends, and holidays.
• General knowledge and understanding of the restaurant industry or retail operations.
• Minimum of six months of restaurant management experience (QSR) or one year of entry‑level retail management experience; experience running shifts without supervision.
• Effective communication skills; basic math, reading, and computer skills.
• Ability to follow directions and work autonomously once given directions; ability to multi‑task and solve problems successfully.
• Willingness to abide by the appearance, uniform, and hygiene standards at SONIC.
