Job summary

Total Wine & More in Daly City, CA is seeking an Assistant Store Manager to grow the brand by delivering best-in-class service and managing store operations, payroll, inventory and merchandising.

You will lead and develop a sales-focused team, ensure compliance with alcohol regulations, foster a welcoming store atmosphere, and drive profitability while providing career development and training opportunities.

Qualifications

• Experience leading and developing a sales-focused team.
• Familiarity with point-of-sale systems and inventory management software.
• Able to work a flexible schedule including evenings and weekends; 1-3 years in a managerial role in retail.

About the role

As an Assistant Store Manager, you will grow the company brand by delivering best-in-class service and bringing to life a distinctive world of adult beverages and more for our customers. You will support store operations and help build a sales and service culture to expand our customer base and maximize profitability. Internally, you will be referred to as Assistant Manager and report to the Store Manager.

Responsibilities

• Drive sales and deliver against key performance metrics (KPMs)
• Assist in recruiting, training, and leading store team, including ongoing development to enhance product knowledge and sales skills
• Support day-to-day operations, including payroll, inventory, merchandising and shrink
• Deliver outstanding customer service by leading by example, fostering a welcoming and knowledgeable store atmosphere, and resolving customer issues
• Help maintain vendor relationships to support store and inventory objectives
• Ensure adherence to all applicable laws and regulations related to the sale of alcohol and maintain a safe and compliant store environment
• Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications and Experience

• Experience leading, motivating, and developing a sales-focused team
• Familiarity with point-of-sale systems and inventory management software
• Ability to work a flexible schedule as business requires, including evenings and weekends
• Bachelor’s degree in business administration or related field preferred or equivalent experience 1-3 years of work experience, 2+ years of proven experience in a managerial or supervisory role in a retail setting

Physical Requirements

• Must be 21 years of age or older
• Walk, bend down repeatedly, and be on feet for 8-10 hours a day
• Ability to safely lift, load, and handle cases and pallets
• Climb ladders and lift 50 lbs. overhead and repeatedly
• May be exposed to various outdoor weather conditions throughout the workday

Compensation may vary based on a number of factors including, but not limited to, market location, job-related knowledge, skills and/or experience.
