Position Description

As an Applebee's Assistant Manager, you will be involved in all aspects of the restaurant's daily operations. Your role is to ensure guests and staff are passionate about their experience every day. You should be a team leader, an excellent problem solver, and able to handle stress effectively. While the role requires hard work, it also promises an enjoyable experience.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Ensure timely, friendly service according to company guidelines, meeting the objectives of the unit.
  • Cultivate a culture aligned with Flynn Applebee's core values and beliefs.
  • Respond promptly to and correct all verbal guest complaints.
  • Engage with guests through required table visits as per Flynn Applebee's standards.
  • Maintain departmental inventory levels.
  • Ensure product preparation and presentation meet company standards through line checks.
  • Schedule employees effectively to meet sales demands.
  • Maintain safety and security programs.
  • Promote restaurant organization, cleanliness, and sanitation.
  • Report needed repairs to the General Manager/Area Director and perform routine maintenance.
  • Recruit and refer potential team members and managers.
  • Follow Flynn | Applebee's training procedures for new managers.
  • Develop staff through orientation, training, employee meetings, and policy implementation.
  • Conduct employee evaluations and provide ongoing feedback and development opportunities.
  • Monitor employee performance and document issues requiring disciplinary action.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, practices, and procedures.
  • Control costs within the department.
  • Comply with all relevant laws and regulations.
  • Manage bi-weekly/weekly food and liquor inventories and ensure their completion.
  • Prepare and submit accurate daily paperwork.
  • Maintain sanitation standards meeting or exceeding health department and company standards.
  • Serve as a role model for managers and employees.
  • Develop proficiency in store-related technology.
  • Be willing and able to work in all restaurant positions as needed.
  • Engage in the Management Development Program for leadership growth.
Education and Experience
  • At least 2-3 years of restaurant management experience.
  • Serve Safe Food and Serve Safe Alcohol Certifications are a plus.
Physical Standards
  • Work various shifts, including weekends.
  • Stand and move quickly for up to ten hours.
  • Lift pots, pans, glassware, and boxes up to 50 pounds safely.
  • Read and write for communication; possess finger and hand dexterity for small tools and equipment.
