Job summary

Jacksons Food Stores, Inc. in Boise, Idaho is seeking an Assistant Manager to support store operations alongside the Store Manager. The role requires strong leadership, communication, and a proven record in fast-paced retail or food service environments.

Compensation starts at $18.50 per hour with full-time benefits and growth opportunities. You will help lead a team, ensure policy compliance, and drive sales while maintaining high standards of customer service and sanitation.

Qualifications

• Open availability to meet a 24/7 operation, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Previous leadership experience in food service or retail.
• At least 3 months of customer service experience.
• A strong passion for providing exceptional customer service.
• Excellent communication skills and a friendly, can-do attitude.
• A valid Driver License and reliable transportation preferred.
• Must be of legal age to sell alcohol and tobacco.
• Demonstrated ability to foster teamwork and collaboration.
• Ability to think quick on your feet and react to change.

Responsibilities

• Provide exceptional service while greeting and thanking all customers.
• Assist in training, mentoring, supervising, and providing leadership to employees.
• Follow, interpret, and enforce company policy and procedures with team.
• Suggest possible purchases to the customer and promote store specials.
• Ensure proper sanitation and food handling/prep/storage/disposal procedures are followed.
• Maintain interior/exterior cleanliness and stock of carwash where applicable.
• Restock shelving, displays, and coolers as needed.
• Clean fast-food area, equipment, and stock as needed.
• Adhere to Safety Manual and report incidents to the manager.
• Work weekends and other shift work; be available for any shift.
• Manage foodservice and beverage programs to maximize sales and minimize loss.
• Enter all sales in the register and perform safe drops as policy.
• Prepare and make daily deposits on the weekend and when covering for the manager.
• Prepare weekly orders from suppliers as needed.
• Respond to emergencies when the Store Manager is unavailable.
• Operate cash register and store equipment as needed.
• Prepare cashier checkout reports in accordance with policy.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Duties/Responsibilities:

• Provide exceptional service while being courteous, always greeting and thanking all customers.
• Assist in training, mentoring, supervising, and providing leadership to employees.
• Follow, interpret, and enforce company policy and procedures with team.

• Ensure proper sanitation and food handling/prep/storage/disposal procedures are followed.

• Restock shelving, displays, and coolers as needed, transferring of product keeping store outs to a minimum.

• Adhere to the guidelines in the Safety Manual and report any accidents or incidents to the manager immediately. Investigate and gather all pertinent information regarding customer and employee incidents/accidents.
• Work weekends and other shift work but must be available to work any shift.
• Effectively manage foodservice and beverage programs to ensure maximization of sales and minimizing loss.
• Enter all sales in the register at the time of sale and make safe drops as per company policy.

Physical Requirements:

• While performing the duties of this job, frequently required to stand, walk, bend, and twist; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, or crouch; and talk and listen.
• Must frequently lift and/or move up to 20 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 65 pounds.
• Work safely in work conditions that include heat, cold, allergen, noise, and fume/chemical/odor from gasoline and cleaning chemicals.
