Waupaca Foundry, Inc. in Tell City, Indiana, is seeking an Assistant Maintenance Manager to oversee plant maintenance, repairs, and upkeep. You will ensure resources and budgets meet requirements and that skilled tradespeople work efficiently to support production.

The role requires a solid grasp of mechanical and electrical systems, plus knowledge of plumbing, carpentry and other trades. Weekend work and on-call support are expected.

This position is located in Tell City, Indiana

ROLE :

The Assistant Maintenance Manager’s job is to oversee all installation, repair and upkeep operations of the plant. You will be the one to ensure that your skilled tradesman have the best physical resources available to complete their duties according to budget.

You will have a solid understanding of mechanical and electrical systems as well as plumbing, carpentry, and other crafts. You will be well versed in all maintenance processes and health, safety, and environmental regulations. Also needed will be to have aptitude in undertaking administrative tasks such as reporting, budgeting etc.

The goal is to ensure the plant is well maintained and adequate to support the company’s business operations.

This position will require working weekends as needed and being called in to assist with problems as needed.

This position reports directly to the Maintenance Manager.

RESPONSIBILITIES :

Include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

• Develop maintenance procedures and ensure implementation
• Carry out inspections of the plant to identify and resolve issues
• Ensure completion of adequate checks of electrical, hydraulic, & pneumatic systems of various pieces of equipment to ensure proper functionality
• Plan and oversee all repair and installation activities
• Allocate workload and supervise maintenance staff (electricians, mechanics, etc.)
• Assist in problem solving / troubleshooting
• Perform yearly evaluations on Foreman being supervised
• Conduct weekly inter-departmental meetings
• Attend interviews for potential new employees
• Manage Projects / Ensure Projects are managed
• Monitor expenses and control the budget for maintenance
• Manage relationships with contractors and service providers
• Keep maintenance logs and report on daily activities
• Ensure health, safety, and environmental policies are complied with

Education/Experience Requirements :

• High school diploma or equivalent; Degree from a vocational / technical school or BSc/BA in business administration, facility management, or engineering will be an advantage
  

QUALIFICATIONS

• Proven experience in a leadership role within the maintenance department
• Experience in planning maintenance operations
• Solid understanding of technical aspects of electrical, mechanical, hydraulics, pneumatics systems etc.
• Working knowledge of facilities machines and equipment
• Computer Savvy
• Ability to keep track of and report on activity
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Outstanding organizational and leadership abilities
• Flexible work schedule for shift and department mobility.
• Must be willing to adapt to a fast paced, dynamic work environment
