Job description

As the Assistant Maintenance Manager,

you will support the Chief Engineer in overseeing and managing all aspects of the maintenance department, including but not limited to equipment maintenance, building and grounds, parts purchasing and inventory, maintenance budgets, capital project management, mechanic training and development, maintenance hiring, work scheduling, follow-up inspections, predictive and preventive maintenance program management, and inter-department communications.

In this role, you will:

  1. Follow up on preventative maintenance, work orders, and emergency repairs to ensure they are completed correctly.
  2. Collaborate with production to meet their maintenance needs.
  3. Coordinate with sanitation to ensure scheduled shutdowns are effective for both departments.
  4. Plan and schedule work during normal shutdowns.
  5. Organize and maintain proper parts inventory, oversee maintenance purchasing and contractors.
  6. Facilitate training programs for maintenance employees.
  7. Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems on automated equipment.
  8. Manage food safety requirements related to maintenance.
  9. Implement and monitor safety programs and related training.
  10. Work in a fast-paced, hands-on environment.
  11. Assist with breakdowns and floor calls as needed.
  12. Be available for on-call troubleshooting, off-hours work, and to work different shifts, including weekends and holidays as necessary.
Qualifications:
  • Minimum of three years' experience as a maintenance mechanic.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Strong mechanical skills.
  • Electrical troubleshooting ability preferred.
  • Ability to work on your feet for extended periods and in hot environments.
